OVERVIEW

Camden Apothecary is the only dispensary in the nation to have sold cannabis both before and after its prohibition in 1937. Aiming to expand brand awareness in and around Philadelphia while deepening engagement with the city’s LGBTQ+ community, they hired Plus4.

Our strategy leveraged Camden Apothecary’s unprecedented historical position to create compelling storytelling opportunities while building authentic connections with Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community.

Our approach included earned media focused on the dispensary’s unique heritage, strategic community partnerships, and targeted outreach to LGBTQ+ publications and organizations.

This included features in Metro Philadelphia and NJ Biz highlighting the dispensary’s unique history and business model, and PHILADELPHIA.Today and Philadelphia Gay News highlighting community engagement initiatives.

Plus4’s earned media strategy was complemented by strategic community partnerships, including collaborations with local LGBTQ+ organizations and neighborhood groups. This helped Camden Apothecary establish authentic relationships within Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community, moving beyond transactional customer relationships to genuine community engagement.
